The new owners at Jessie’s are bringing back the iconic coffee-meets-donut collab — relaunching 11th June.

Back in 2023, while I was still running Jessie’s Café, I got chatting with Dave — the former owner of TopDup Donuts — about food hypes. You know the ones… those wild, delicious creations that blow up online and have people lining up down the street?
I wanted to create one of those moments for Jessie’s.
After tossing around a few ideas, we landed on something equal parts fun, indulgent, and a little bit ridiculous — in the best way. And just like that, the Cuppa-Nut was born.
To be fair, the idea was mostly Dave’s (credit where it’s due). But I had a cracker team of baristas at the time, and we were all in.
So, what is the Cuppa-Nut?
It’s a fluffy brioche donut, lined with rich chocolate, filled with a hot shot of our Day Made blend from Coffee Beans Perth, and finished with your choice of milk. Yep — you sip it like a coffee, but eat it like a treat. Coffee alternatives were always available too.
We launched it on a Wednesday… and it exploded.
The team at Urban List shared our reel — it reached 2.3 million views on Instagram alone. Perth Is OK jumped on board too, racking up another 113,000+ views. Add in a wave of local Perth food bloggers sharing their taste tests, and suddenly, the Cuppa-Nut was everywhere.
It completely flooded people’s feeds.
There was curiosity. Intrigue. A whole lot of “wait… what even is this?”
And then, just to top things off, Delicious Magazine slid into our inbox wanting to feature the story behind the collab.
The hype was real.
Wednesdays at Jessie’s quickly turned into beautiful chaos.
Lines out the door.
People road-tripping across the city just to try one.
Baristas working flat-out, coffee machines on overdrive.
Donuts gone by mid-morning.
It was buzzy. It was a little bit mental. And honestly — it was magic.
And now, it’s back.
